I left my PhD course and went to work for a politician in Brussels.
I’ve never noticed a time when it would it would be of use at work. I’ve learnt most of the useful things I know on the job or by teaching myself.
What Did I learn
I enjoyed my 2 year as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. I worked for a great Professor. Found a great and long standing friend. Read a lot of the work of Emmanuel Mounier. Discovered that academia is not always about free thinking and challenging intellectual discovery. And, after my time studying in the US, realise that we have let down a lot of our university students.
