I’m looking at how the European Green Deal Communication was adopted at the start of the last Commission (11 December 2019).
It is an interesting lesson to be ready with your ideas, solutions and evidence before a new mandate starts. It was remarkable how few people had an influence on its thinking, and it is a masterclass in effective policy influence by one MEP.
Otherwise, you’ll wake up with a new Communication containing a package of 500 plus legislative and regulatory actions to keep you busy for the next 5 years.
It will be interesting to see what comes out the door in the first 100-day programme of the new Commission. Reading the Mission-Letters of the Commissioner-designates, more than enough clues are left.
