For those about to go political streaking

Something is in the air.
I’ve heard some wanting to raise ideas that I’d thought had been consigned to the footnotes of history be taken up by the new Commission. Ideas that a year ago the same people swore that they had disavowed.
I’m not sure if this is the side effect of too much vitamin D brought on by a late spurt of sun – rarely seen in this latitude.
Maybe, it is dutch courage brought on my political victories, real or more likely imagined, in the June European elections.
Maybe a former Italian Professor’s writings has encouraged them. Writings that bear an uncanny resemblance to the 2014 Stoiber report.
What many see as brave I’m reminded of  Will Ferrell in Old School

When you go political streaking you are betting it all.
You are playing off the the invetiability of political riddicule to the off chance of victory.
The downside is that if you don’t get what you want, you get to sit out the next 5 years wailing on the sidelines.
I’m reminded this happens every 5 years. And, a lot of people spend the next 5 years consigned to the sidelines, influencing nothing.
You need to  prepared to throw away any accumulated political good will and trust you have secured onto the alter of political vanity and hope (usually with no good reason) that, just this once, it will work out.
After 25 plus years in Vitamin D drenched Brussels, I’ve not seen this gamble work.
